Resumo

Bracatinga (Mimosa scabrella Bentham) honeydew honey (Bhh) is produced from the cochineals Stigmacoccus paranaensis Foldi excretions on the stem of bracatinga, a tree native from south Brazil. Recently, Bhh went through the process of obtaining the denomination of origin (DO) certification by the INPI, Brazil. Mineral elements (ME) and phenolic compounds (PC) seemed to be a good strategy to see the geographical influence, considering their association with the soil where the bracatinga occurs. Thus, ME and PC of 34 Bhh from southern Brazil were evaluated to contribute to the DO process. QuEChERS method was used for PC extraction, quantified by LC-DAD. Bhh were digested for 4 h at 90 °C for ME determination by ICP-MS. ANOVA and principal components analysis (PCA) were carried out using to analyze samples classification. Among 18 PC investigated, 14 were found in the Bhh. Syringic acid (5.2±0.5 to 40.5±2.5 µg g-1) p-coumaric acid (2.7± 0.1 to 11.7±0.6 µg g-1) acid and rutin (8.5±0.5 to 64.4± 8.0 µg g-1) were the most common. Thirty-nine ME were evaluated. Mn and Rb were the major macrominerals (121.0±14.8 and 42.2±0.3 mg Kg-1) while In and U (<LOD to 0.3±0.0 and <LOD to 2.4±0.0 µg Kg-1) showed the lowest concentrations in Bhh samples. Rare earth minerals were below 1.0 µg Kg-1, except for Eu (0.54±0.1 to 9.3±1.0 µg Kg-1). Toxic minerals (Pb, As, and Cd) were sufficiently low concentrated, without risk to human health. The PCA scatterplot (PC1 24.5%, PC2 14.7%) showed that Bhh samples were grouped together based on all the ME and PC evaluated. Two samples were grouped apart from the other 32 samples, because of the highest concentrations of the ME Gd, Sm, La, Nd, and Pd. Overall; there was no distinction between the Bhh samples regardless of the geographical origin, which contributed to the DO process.

Obrigada, Amanda! Nós pretendemos expandir a pesquisa coletando mais amostras de regiões produtoras (maior desafio) para cobrirmos todos os pontos de produção e de fato criar um sistema de verificação de autenticidade através destas análises.
