Abstract

This article presents the results of a literary and audiovisual action developed in a public school in Cataguases (MG) through an audiovisual reading club based on the principles of Participant Research (Peruzzo, 2003; 2005). The proposal integrated, in addition to literary reading, discussions about media content and the production of a web series carried out with the rotoscoping technique (Bratt, 2011). The initiative sought to expand the repertoires of the participants and promote media education, in addition to articulating different supports taking into account that the reading of the world (Freire, 1983) must go hand in hand with the reading of the media. The study highlighted the potential of audiovisual as a gateway to meaningful reading practices and as a tool for reflection on reality. The results indicate that the processes of reading and creation have the potential to stimulate protagonism and the construction of meanings in the face of culture and information in contemporary times.
