This article is part of the ongoing development of a postdoctoral project on the topics of accessible digital communication and digital accessibility in higher education. There is an increase in the use of assistive technologies and in the number of people with disabilities (PwDs) in universities. Digital technologies drive accessible digital communication and digital accessibility in academic and professional daily life, favoring the knowledge of these topics in communication courses that require updates for the creation, production and dissemination of products that serve different audiences in a more universal way. Exploratory qualitative research was carried out in bibliographic and documentary sources and the cartography methodology, which indicated connections, assemblages and ruptures between the themes and the training of the communicator. The results point to a gap in these contents in communication courses and indicate good possibilities for their inclusion in teaching, research and extension.
