Postural balance can be defined as maintaining the body's center of mass connected to a support base delimited between the two feet. It configures a capacity exercised in static or dynamic circumstances, taking into account support, suspension and trajectory demands, under sensorimotor control regulation. Factors such as decreased muscle strength and osteoarticular disorders result in greater postural sway. In this context, the assessment of body balance becomes fundamental from the point of view of functionality and monitoring of factors associated with musculoskeletal injuries (MSI). The objective of this study was to evaluate the dynamic balance in gymnasts. This is a retrospective, observational, descriptive cross-sectional study. The convenience sample consisted of 67 practitioners of artistic gymnastics, aged between 8 and 17 years, 49 female and 18 male, coming from two training centers in Campo Grande, MS. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee for Research with Human Beings of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (CEP/UFMS), under opinion nº 5,013,655. The participants were divided into two groups: G1, composed of 44 participants with no record of previous cases of SCI; and G2, with 23 participants who reported at least one retrospective case of SCI. Dynamic balance was assessed using the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT).
