Frequent landslides in Brazil are mainly caused by extreme climate events. The current major challenge is not only to understand the phenomena, but also to bridge the gap between available geoenvironmental information and its use by decision-makers. It is essential to identify susceptible areas to guide land use planning and management measures. In this paper, we aim to map the susceptibility of landslides in São Sebastião, in view of the latest disaster that occurred on February 19 2023. A mathematical model based on multi-criteria decision-making (MCDA) and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to map the susceptible areas to landslides. Results show that landslide scars were distributed in the most susceptible areas (77.2%), classified “high” and “very high”; 75 scars in the “high” class and 504 scars in the “very high” class. In the “very low” class only 1 scar, 56 scars in “low” class and 108 scars in “moderate” class.
