Abstract

The use of LiDAR sensors has a wide range of applications, ranging from forestry and agricultural areas to studies in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) . In this last field, there is a special interest in the scope of Cultural Heritage, focusing on documenting buildings regarding historical interest. This work presents a comparative analysis between the documentation of a historic facade in Greece with two types of LASER sensors: a terrestrial model from the manufacturer Leica and one embedded in an iPhone 14 Pro. The work presents a discussion about the limits imposed by current technology, in addition to the potential of using LiDAR sensors in mobile devices, such as the iPhone 14 Pro, to complement cultural heritage studies.
