Abstract

The choice of a warship is essential for maintaining a country's sovereignty, deterrent, and national security. In this sense, the objective of this article is to select a modern warship, based on the MEREC and MAIRCA Multicriteria Decision Analysis Methods, based on six operational, strategic and logistical criteria. Seven warships were evaluated, among the best in the world, based on six criteria. The MEREC was used to calculate the weights of the criteria and the MAIRCA to rank the alternatives. After modeling, the result indicated Sejong the Great as the most favorable. After the result, a sensitivity analysis was also performed using the THOR2, TOPSIS and SPOTIS methods. This analysis showed that in three of the four methods studied here, the most favorable alternative was Sejong the Great in all methods.
