Abstract

Efficient management of resources in universities is essential for teaching excellence. This study develops models to assist in the assignment of teachers to classes, using the case of the Mathematics area of the State University of Santa Cruz. This task, carried out before the beginning of the semesters, demands a lot of time from the committee in charge. The models consider the minimum and maximum workloads of teachers, class schedules, preferences and objectives such as balancing the workload, maximizing the distribution of classes and prioritizing the preferences of teachers. Computational experiments with real data were conducted, showing the effectiveness of the models in supporting decision-making for the assignment of teachers.
