Abstract
The article addresses the challenge of organizing a company's production waves, respecting restrictions of Wave Class and Inventory Type. A wave is a set of boxes, and each box contains products. The main objective is to determine the number of waves required and the composition of boxes in each wave, ensuring that each wave contains only boxes of the same Wave Class and Stock Type, not exceeding 8000 pieces for Box Stock (CX) and 6000 pieces for Bound Stock (EN). All boxes provided should be allocated, minimizing the repetition of products in multiple waves. The secondary goal is to minimize the total number of waves. The wave size directly affects the product separation (picking) process. To solve the problem, the Simulated Annealing metaheuristic was implemented. The computational results demonstrate that good solutions are obtained in several cases provided by the company.
