Abstract

The study highlights the importance of vulnerability indicators for indigenous peoples, by talking about the logistical challenges that indigenous communities face in the Brazilian Amazon region. These communities suffer directly from the lack of access to essential services and transportation difficulties, which influences the quality of life. In the face of increasing deforestation, it is crucial to implement specific public policies to address these issues and ensure the protection of increasingly vulnerable Indigenous Lands. Understanding and solving the complex challenges faced by indigenous communities requires the application of Problem Structuring Methods, with the aim of seeking sustainable and inclusive solutions. The main objective of this study is to identify the most significant logistical challenges that indigenous communities face in the South and Southeast regions of the State of Pará. In order to develop a broad understanding of the difficulties faced by these communities in accessing essential services and basic resources, we seek to apply the Value-Focused Thinking (VFT) method to create specific indicators of logistical vulnerability. Guide the formulation of public policies and development strategies aimed at improving the efficiency of the logistics chain, ensuring more equitable and sustainable access to essential services for indigenous communities
