With the integration of fault management, the service of fault finding, isolation and restoration of the supply service can be completely automated. The fault diagnosis function determines the most likely location of a fault event using information from the distribution network and relays. In this work, distribution network analysis models and nonlinear programming techniques are used as auxiliary functions in modern fault location algorithms. The assessment is carried out under a real distribution network with distributed generation. The results show the sensitivity of the proposed method that is able to find the missing bar and provide the value of the missing resistance in 100% of the cases.
