Abstract

The Electronic Waste Problem (e-waste) is one of the most worrying socio-environmental issues due to its growing volume and inadequate disposal. In today's world, adequate management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) has become essential to minimize growing reverse logistics problems and environmental impacts. This work presents advanced modeling applicable to the Electronic Waste Collection Problem (PCLE), using classic and similar models from the literature. The implementations use heuristics, metaheuristics and hybridization techniques to optimize computational time, converging to sub-optimal or optimal solutions. We hope to contribute to future research, bringing benefits such as reducing operational costs, minimizing time and distance traveled by vehicles, increasing collection efficiency and complying with environmental regulations, essential for the context of smart cities.
