If you've NEVER registered a DOI in your Lattes, check our tutorial! This paper proposes a mathematical formulation for the multi-skill long-term preventive maintenance planning problem. This problem consists of determining which maintenance is scheduled, assigning these to teams, and determining when each maintenance should be performed on its respective machine. Skill consists of a team's ability to perform a specific activity. Multi-skilling occurs when performing maintenance requires two or more skills. The objective of the problem is to minimize the number of teams used in planning and the sum of penalties for unscheduled maintenance. One new mathematical formulation based on time-indexed variables is proposed to solve the problem.
