Abstract

The article is part of contemporary research on the internet phenomenon known as ASMR. These are videos whose synesthetic effect is used to induce relaxation and, among other things, combat insomnia. In this sense, ASMR is part of the usual discourse of self-care practices fostered by neoliberalism in contemporary times. The work investigates the space of comments and descriptions of the videos of Brazilian youtuber brellyna asmr to understand the relationship between users and content creator: how does the intimacy mediated by the videos take place? How is the performer's authenticity constructed? How are the demands for care and attention placed by users? And what happens when the performer needs to be absent?
