ORAL DENTAL SUPPORT FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE.

Favorite this paper

INTRODUCTION: In 2015 there were around 2,000 homeless people living in the center of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. OBJECTIVE: To reveal the strategies taken to make possible a complete oral and dental treatment as part of the support of an integrated professional team. RESULTS: HIGH percentage of sequenced treatment of oral pathology and the consequences of violence and aggression and LOW achievement of oral and dental health. CONCLUSIONS: VERY LIMITED SUCCESS AT THE MOMENT. Homeless people need an INTEGRATED INDIVIDUALIZED STRATEGY to receive oral and dental treatment, as their home is the street, which is unpredictably dangerous, with limited potable water and healthy food and a CHAOTIC daily life.
