Abstract

The aim of this study is to present an overview of high-performance sports, especially rhythmic gymnastics in Brazil, with regard to the contributions of courses during vacation periods (break period in the competition calendar), for updating and training coaches, gymnasts and others. Qualitative research, of a documental nature, with the aim of collecting data on these courses that were held at the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023. It is understood that there is a constant scientific evolution in sports training, which requires constant updating and studies. As a modality of artistic influence, its technical characteristic with and without apparatus in line with rhythm and body expression is unquestionable. Creativity allied to technique offers the possibility of performing high-level choreographies in terms of difficulty, execution and artistry. Thus, it is necessary that those involved with the modality are agents in constant updating and training, so that they can aim for new achievements. The investigation carried out, firstly, through the leaflets publicizing the courses by the responsible bodies, indicates that 09 events took place in different places in the country. In a second moment, through a specific form, those responsible for the courses were asked for the necessary information to understand their contributions to the development of the modality in Brazil. Of the connected institutions, 08 sent the requested data. The total number of subjects involved in the courses was 713, with 130 technicians, 485 gymnasts and 99 others (referees, academics and teachers). From the contents developed in the courses, one can see the concern with the new scoring code, with physical preparation (general and specific, including solo, diagonal and ballet), body difficulties, handling of apparatus, body expression and dance. Only 01 course was concerned with playful work, focusing on initiation and injury prevention; another course was concerned with food and body structure. There were several professionals who taught the courses, however, the professionals responsible for the Brazilian team, both as a group and individually, stand out. It is worth mentioning that 04 courses had the participation of participants from other countries (Venezuela, Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia) and 01 course had the participation of a foreign trainer giving a workshop. The courses were of short duration, ranging from 02 to 04 days, except for one course that lasted 10 days. It can be concluded that there is a commitment to promote meetings that can contribute to the general development of those involved with rhythmic gymnastics, especially gymnasts and coaches, with a focus on high performance and it is perceived by the level of events national and the latest international results in Brazil, that this type of training has fulfilled its function. Brazilian rhythmic gymnastics professionals are concerned with the need to structure the work of physical, technical and tactical preparation throughout the year, having the scientific knowledge and experience of the instructors as a basis, so that proposals can be reviewed and modified , with the intention of finding better ways to work the modality for its gymnasts, with its physical, cultural and social characteristics and not as a ready-made training coming from another country.
