RESPONSE SURFACE APPROACH FOR ALKALINE PRETREATMENT OF COFFEE HUSK FOR EFICIENTE FERMENTABLE SUGARS RECOVERY

Favoritar este trabalho

The search for industrial applications of coffee husk as a renewable raw material to obtain high added-value molecules has induced advances in studies related to the pretreatment of this biomass aiming for optimal recovery of fermentable sugars. Thus, the present work sought to optimize the alkaline pretreatment through the 23 complete factorial design with three central points, to verify its influence in the liberation of fermentable sugars by subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis. According to the variance analysis (ANOVA) of the obtained data, it was observed that the highest total phenol content, equivalent to 6.0 g/L , was obtained under experimental conditions of solid content (8% w/v), NaOH concentration (10% w/v) and reaction time (30 min), While at higher concentrations of solid (12% w/v) and reaction time (60 min) and low NaOH concentration (4% w/v) the maximum fermentable sugars concentration was 26.0 g/L.
