ISOLATION, IDENTIFICATION AND SELECTION OF MICROALGAE FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT
This work aims to isolate and identify microalgae from sanitary wastewater and choose the best strain for water treatment. Two species have been isolated and identified as Chlorella vulgaris and Navicula sp. The ability of both strains for pollutants removal was tested in five days. Both species reduced turbidity and nitrate and phosphate concentrations in wastewater. The Navicula sp. was selected the better strain for bioremediation in the used incubation conditions and in the period tested, decreasing 75.3% of turbidity and 97.6% of nitrate.
