THE POTENTIAL OF CASSAVA RESIDUE TO PRODUCE ETHANOL

Favoritar este trabalho

The process of transforming manioc into derivatives generates a high amount of solid residue known as bagasse, which comprises a fibrous material with high water content and considerable starch content. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the physical and chemical conditions of the cassava residue and to evaluate the hydrolysis potential of this biomass. Physicochemical analyzes were carried out according to the methodology of Instituto Adolfo Lutz, 2008. For hydrolysis, three enzymes were subsequently used with specificities for the starch contained in this substrate. The results obtained in this study demonstrate the potential of this residue to be used as biomass in the production of biofuel
