EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN TO REDUCE MEDIA COMPONENTS AND INCREASE CLOSTRIDIUM CARBOXIDIVORANS CELL CONCENTRATION

Favorite this paper

Syngas fermentation is a sustainable alternative to produce biofuels and solvents by some microorganisms that are capable of using this gas as a carbon source. Syngas is mainly composed of CO e H2, containing also CO2, CH4 and N2. One of the bottlenecks of this process is the low cell density usually obtained in anaerobic systems, which affects the gaseous substrate conversion. Therefore, the present work evaluates the significant components in ATCC 2713 media in order to increase biomass concentration. Yeast extract had the highest influence on increasing cell concentration. Haemin, l-arginine and menadione are not necessary for cell cultivation, independent of the strategy used.
