Using Panel Data and Fixed Effects models, the effects of police productivity indicators on the number of victims of intentional homicide were analyzed. The results indicate that the increase in arrests and occurrences of drug seizures is associated with a reduction in homicide crimes. On the other hand, the indicators of offenders arrested in flagrante delicto and adolescents apprehended in flagrante delicto showed a positive association with homicides, possibly reflecting the reactive action of the police in more violent regions. The findings reinforce the importance of strategies focused on repression of drug trafficking and strengthening police productivity.
