If you've NEVER registered a DOI in your Lattes, check our tutorial! In this paper we propose a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model and two genetic algorithms to tackle the Glass Container Industry Problem with a New Furnace. We start by providing an MILP formulation to outline the objectives and constraints associated with the problem. The genetic algorithms introduced in our study are designed to evolve the binary variables of the MILP model, and a linear version of the formulation helps find values for the continuous variables. Our methods were evaluated on a series of problem instances that were generated using data sourced from a glass container industry located in Portugal and Brazil. The results indicate that our model and genetic algorithms effectively provide viable solutions to the problem at hand.
With nearly 200,000 papers published, Galoá empowers scholars to share and discover cutting-edge research through our streamlined and accessible academic publishing platform.
