This study aims to analyze the effects of holistic evaluation within the FITradeoff method for classification problems. The FITradeoff method incorporates a combination of preference elicitation paradigms: decomposition-based elicitation and holistic evaluation, allowing the decision-maker to express preferences partially and thereby promoting greater flexibility. However, the effect of holistic evaluation in the classification variant of FITradeoff remains unexplored. Therefore, this study focuses on examining the impact of holistic evaluations in FITradeoff for classification, specifically investigating how this type of elicitation influences the number of questions posed and the decision-maker’s effort. To this end, simulations will be conducted in predefined scenarios to assess whether holistic evaluation contributes to a reduction in the number of required questions. Additionally, the study will explore whether alternatives with a wider range of global values are more likely to lead to such a reduction.
