Abstract

This article presents a bibliometric analysis of Brazilian scientific production on the use of multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methodologies between 1990 and 2025. These methodologies have been widely applied across various fields, enabling effective decision-making in complex scenarios involving multiple criteria and numerous alternatives. Based on data from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, the analysis covered publication volume, the most relevant journals, geographic distribution, and the most cited documents. The study also examined author collaborations and the main methods employed over time. The results revealed 2,095 unique documents, with the Southeast and Northeast regions standing out. The TOPSIS, AHP, and ELECTRE methods were the most frequently used, while FUZZY, FITradeoff, and SMART appeared less often but remained relevant. This analysis aims to support researchers in understanding the development of the field and to guide future investigations in the area of multicriteria decision-making in Brazil.
