Abstract

This article proposes a methodological decision-support approach for prioritizing emerging technologies in the energy industry, with an emphasis on the offshore segment. It employs the 12-step framework for multicriteria problem modeling, combined with the PROMETHEE-ROC method, which facilitates the elicitation of weights based on the ranking of criteria. The methodology was applied to a case study on an oil and gas platform, involving the evaluation of four robotic solutions. The alternatives were ranked using the PROMROCnRatio software, considering non-compensatory criteria defined by the decision-makers. The robustness of the results was validated through sensitivity analysis using Monte Carlo simulations and Kendall’s hypothesis test. The findings indicate the superiority of the wireless ROV technology and demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective in supporting complex technological decisions, contributing to digital transformation and sustainable innovation in the energy sector.
