This paper proposes and applies a dynamic conceptual model and a maturity scale to evaluate adaptive project portfolio management in multisectoral financial groups, based on the Theory of Dynamic Capabilities. The scale integrates seven dimensions, comprising organizational context, leadership and governance, strategic planning, sensing, seizing, transforming and continuous learning capabilities, and 37 assessment items. Triangular fuzzy numbers capture the inaccuracy of maturity assessments. The model was applied empirically in the Prisma Seguros Group (fictitious name), a Brazilian financial group. The results indicate an average degree of maturity of 2.17 (scale from 1 to 5), with better performance in the dimensions of organizational context and seizing and gaps in strategic planning and sensing capabilities. The work offers a self-assessment instrument whose feasibility was empirically demonstrated in a single case study, with theoretical and practical contributions to financial organizations in regulatory and economic environments of high uncertainty.
