This work studies the proposal of a food exchange center between civil entities. These entities seek to fight hunger in Brazil through the distribution of basic food baskets to families in vulnerable situations. As the entities depend on donations, they often receive some food in excess while others are lacking. The exchange center provides the exchange of food in order to increase the number of basic food baskets assembled by the entities. A mathematical model, based on the crossdocking strategy, is proposed to represent the problem. The computational results obtained so far indicate operational gains when implementing the center.
