Abstract
In this work we propose a method based on integer programming for the design of a bus system for the transportation of personnel from a large factory to the beginning and end of work shifts. Our methodology was applied to the case study of a factory with more than 1000 workers (800 of them using the service buses) living in different areas of a city with more than 5 million inhabitants. In the current situation, our solution reduces costs by more than 10% without harming workers.
