Livestock sustainability and animal welfare.
The aim of this study is to generate welfare from the same animal production systems for ourselves and animals, and making those agro-ecosystems resilient to environmental, economic, social and productively issues. The approach of sustainability and welfare is adjusted with the implementation of SPS in livestock farms, according to previous studies which show SPS to become a production model for the tropics that contribute to biodiversity conservation; increase the production parameters; reduce production costs, maintains and control pests and diseases; improve soil fertility; CO2 capture; eliminate the use of chemicals; contribute to the restoration of fragile ecosystems; and reduce ruminal methane production. SPS grazing animals are more efficient in the use of energy as a result of lower investment of time in activities related to grazing and production showing superior performance compared to traditional systems activities.
