Abstract

Introduction: Burns caused by alcohol are frequently reported and observed among individuals in the population. These lesions occur when liquid alcohol comes into contact with the skin, with subsequent inflammation. Thus, it becomes relevant to guide and disseminate information in the most varied areas in order to mitigate accidents and prevent burns. Thus, the “Campaign for the prevention of burns with alcohol” acted as a tool to disseminate, among children and adolescents, this subject, as well as prevention and care in the face of accidents. In addition, so that there was greater adherence and dynamism to the project, there were questions and inquiries about the theme, which were answered by the campaign participants. Objectives: Inform students of Colégio Ressurreição Nossa Senhora do Calvário about alcohol burns, as well as what to do to avoid and how to act in the event of an accident involving a burnt person. Methods: To carry out this project, the material present in PowerPoint was used as a basis for the oral presentation, as well as the distribution of informative pamphlets to the students. Results: The students showed great interest in the subject portrayed, interacting with the presenters and questioning them. In addition, many were surprised by certain curiosities about prevention and care for burns. Conclusion: From the realization of the project, the paramount importance of disseminating information about persistent subjects in everyday life was observed. As much as “alcohol burns” is a well-known topic, small considerations can be essential to avoid accidents and injuries, especially among children and adolescents, since they are characterized as more vulnerable individuals and exposed to occurrences.
