Abstract

Introduction: Currently, the number of diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is increasing, and consequently, the spread of information and instructions about the topic is also on the rise. However, much of this information being spread is often inaccurate or incomplete, leading to the need for organizing events to promote awareness about the reality of the situation. Objectives: Raise awareness and disseminate accurate information about ASD to break down stigmas and prejudices, and provide support in the fight against them. Methods: The study is a experience report. Results: By providing accurate information and sharing personal experiences with future medical professionals, the campaign fostered greater understanding of ASD and increased empathy towards individuals dealing with it on a daily basis. This, coupled with the demonstration of the significance of giving voice to families and enhancing mutual support among them, has been the campaign's achievement. Conclusions: Raising awareness among the population about ASD is crucial to demystify the limitations of this disorder. Knowledge promotion initiatives serve as tools to combat prejudice and stereotypes, enabling the fulfillment of the principle of comprehensiveness and the cultivation of empathetic professionals.
