Abstract

The analysis of recurrence from the police perspective is still little explored, especially from the perspective of symbolic violence practiced by male perpetrators of violence (HAV) after group experience. The objective of this article is to know the forms of symbolic violence in the acts of recurrence of participants who have been discharged from groups for HAV, based on the reading of police reports and according to Bourdieu's view. The research explored police occurrences of 23 cases of recurrence of HAV who participated in a reflective group in the years 2020 and 2021, in Belo Horizonte/Minas Gerais. The documents were studied based on the narrative of the history of the occurrences, supported by content analysis and grouping into categories. As a result, the presence of symbolic violence permeated in acts of real violence was detected, especially virility and domination, through immaterial bargaining, the invocation of decency and the imperative of virility.
