Abstract

Seeking to be at the forefront of best practices and highlight the importance of the gender equity and diversity agenda in municipal public management, the City of Rio de Janeiro created the Rio Women's Leadership Program. Coordinated by the João Goulart Foundation Institute, the program is an extremely relevant initiative, which aims to encourage the development of self-leadership skills in municipal managers, through training and recognition actions that favor self-knowledge and boost the protagonism of these women as leaders of themselves and of their own history and career in municipal public administration. in addition to the construction, proposition and validation of policies, practices and effective actions that strengthen and enhance the performance of women in the governmental context, which are delivered to the Special Secretariat for the Promotion and Policies of Women in order to make them viable as public service initiatives guided by the gender agenda.
