Abstract

The Field of Public Studies encompasses a diversity of undergraduate courses focused on Public Administration, Public Policy Management, Public Management, among other denominations in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Brazil. The study aims to understand the extension curriculum in the Public Fields courses. To this end, the research is qualitative in nature, using the multiple case study method. Five bachelor's degree courses from federal HEIs in the Northeast region of the country were selected. In addition, bibliographic research (Field of Public and Extension Action), documentary research (Pedagogical Projects of the Courses) and interviews (coordinators of the courses investigated) were carried out. The results indicate that the curricularization of extension in the courses of the Public Field represents a challenge for the HEIs, in view of the need for a reorganization of educational practices and a greater integration between teaching, research and extension.
