Abstract

The objective is to understand the configuration of Placemaking in a Creative City in Brazil, through determinants of tourism, considering potentialities and limitations in terms of initiatives for the requalification of urban spaces as promoters of new social interactions and economic opportunities. We apply the qualitative methodology because we understand that the construction of places takes place through fields of action, observation and field research. The research was carried out in 2022, in Brasília (DF), established as a UNESCO Creative City of Design, since 2017. The results indicate that Placemaking demands determinants of the understanding of sustainable place, in contrast to the complexity of (re)vitalization of place, as a result of the heritage heritage, which legitimized it through Local Urban Design. In addition, we point out the relevance of the interconnectivity between Resources, Meanings and Creativity in the process of resignification of tourism, considering implications for the management of the city, especially in the post-pandemic context.
