Permanent Forum on Sustainability of the Center for Applied Sciences and Education of the Federal University of Paraíba: technical report of the experience of a space for co-construction of sustainability actions

Within the scope of the “Expandir Program” the Center for Applied Sciences and Education and Campus IV of the Federal University of Paraíba were created in 2006, on the North Coast of Paraíba. Considering universities as development agents, the debate on sustainability policies is fundamental. The general objective of this report is to discuss the process of creating the Permanent Sustainability Forum at CCAE. Specifically, it aims to report the scenario prior to the creation of the forum; describe the process of creating this space; and, reflect on its potential for the CCAE to play its role in the construction of sustainability policies. After the creation of the Permanent Sustainability Committee, the forum's activities were not interrupted and the constitution of the committee itself presented bottlenecks that need to be overcome. However, it is considered that these spaces for co-construction of public policies need to be strengthened, as they align with the most robust conceptions of sustainable development.
