Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze how the Brazilian government incorporates technological discourse in order to acquire discursive capital in its relationship with society. With the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICT), the federal government begins to construct a discourse of technology as a factor in the modernization and revolution of the Brazilian State and, through this discourse, the government acquires discursive capital in its relationship with society. Seeking to understand this process, we used critical discourse analysis (CDA) based on the three-dimensional conception proposed by Fairclough (2016) to analyze the EGD 2023 launch media files present on Canal Gov. As a result, we observed how the construction of discourse technology by the federal government adapts to the different social matrices in which it is reproduced and, by positioning itself as a promoter of this digital transformation, the government acquires cursive capital vis-à-vis society and other state agents.
