It starts from the following question: What is the relationship between leadership styles and the proactive behavior of employees? The main objective is to identify which leadership style is most effective in promoting a motivating environment that encourages proactive attitudes. It is justified by the relevance of understanding how the conduct of leaders directly influences the performance and well-being of employees, favoring better organizational results. The research adopted a qualitative approach, with quantitative support, classified as explanatory. Data obtained through direct observation in a financial sector of a construction company were used, analyzing the interaction between leaders and subordinates. The sample included three employees from different hierarchical levels. The results showed that leaders with adaptive styles — capable of adjusting their form of leadership according to the employee's profile — positively impact the motivation, engagement, and productivity of the team. Elements such as recognition, efficient communication and freedom of expression proved to be essential to stimulate the initiative of employees. It is concluded that democratic leadership, when applied with balance, contributes to the creation of a more collaborative and productive environment, being more effective in promoting proactive behavior and obtaining better organizational results.
