Abstract

Food and Nutrition Insecurity (FNI) is a multifactorial phenomenon characterized by difficulty or restriction in access to correct food. With the Covid-19 pandemic, the country recorded a generalized increase in hunger associated with the health, social and economic crisis that affected the world. The objective of this article is to determine the socioeconomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the increase in the prevalence of food insecurity in the Brazilian population. A narrative review was carried out, with the help of Google Scholar and PUBMED databases and surveys by the Penssan Network and Food for Justice Working Paper Series, with quantitative data that pointed to an increase in Food and Nutrition Insecurity in the pandemic period.
