Abstract

5-aminotetrazoles are heterocyclic compounds of five members, where there are four nitrogen and one carbon attached to an amine. They are molecules that are not found in the nature, having the need to synthesize them, since they are efficient herbicides, inhibitors of metabolic processes and even car airbags.
Currently, the methodologies for synthesizing 5-aminotetrazoles use heavy metals and hypervalent iodine as desulfurisation agents and, many times, high temperatures. Therefore, there is the need to research a synthetic route that concerns about green chemistry and low cost. Thinking in this way, it is possible to apply KICl2 as the desulfurisation agent in this methodology, being easy to prepare in the laboratory and stable at room temperature. In the same way that the desulfurisation agent can be changed, it is also possible to use the microwave as an alternative instead of using conventional heating, decreasing risks of accident.
