Resumo

The objective of this work was to determine the energy value of three different types of corn (Type I, Type II and Type III) determined by the total excreta collection method. To perform the digestibility test were used 200 broilers, distributed in a completely randomized design, with four treatments, ten replicates and five birds per experimental unit. The test rations were composed by the substitution in 40% of the reference ration (RR) for the corn under study. The EMA and EMAn values found in this test ranged from 3440 to 3609 kcal/kg and 3357 to 3531 kcal/kg, respectively.
In relation to the coefficient of apparent metabolizability (CMA) no difference (P<0.05) was observed between the types of corn studied. However, there was a difference (P<0.05) between the corrected metabolizable coefficients (CMAn), and the values ranged from 85.67 to 89.47%. According to the results, corn classified as type III showed higher CMAn (P<0.05) when compared to type I corn. The corn grains classified as I, II and III used provided values of digestibility coefficient higher than 70%, proving a good utilization of the nutrients.
