Resumo

The agricultural sector is of extreme importance due to its productivity and direct participation in the country's trade balance. With this there was a concern in the improvement of biotechnologies in breeding and in bovine genetic improvement programs. These animals may present some genetic changes between them the translocation between 1/29 chromosomes is the most common. This change may result in gestational losses and bovine subfertility. Cytogenetic techniques have been used in the association and investigation of numerical and/or structural chromosomal changes in cattle. The objective of this study was to analyze samples of Dutch cows identified with low pregnancy rate. Blood samples were collected to obtain the metaphase chromosomes of apparently healthy cows, but with difficulty to breed. The chromosomes were analyzed in the C and GTG banding methods. With results, it was possible to identify and pair all 60 chromosomes characteristic of the studied species.
