PREVALÊNCIA DE PARASITOS INTESTINAIS E/ OU COMENSAIS INTESTINAIS EM TRABALHADORES DE ABATEDOUROS-FRIGORÍFICOS NO MUNICÍPIO DE SÃO LUÍS – MA

This study aimed to determine the prevalence of parasites and / or intestinal commensal in food handlers refrigerators in São Luiz - MA. Stool samples of 45 handlers were analyzed by spontaneous sedimentation method. The prevalence identified in this study was 35.56% for parasites and/or intestinal commensa. The main parasites found were protozoa Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli, Giardia lamblia and Entamoeba histolytica and helminths Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancilostomídeos and Trichocephalus Trichiurus. The results indicate that the handlers have bad personal hygiene habits and have no access to health education. In this sense, should be implemented in refrigerators reviews, measures to control intestinal parasites, with emphasis on health education and periodic laboratory tests.
