Resumo

The determination of some blood metabolites allows an evaluation of the nutritional status of a herd. The objective of this study was to evaluate the parenteral administration of 400 IU of vitamin E (VE) in different numbers of applications and their effects on the biochemical parameters of sheep blood. The animals (n = 20) received a total of 4 mL of VE (100 IU-tocopherol/1 mL) weekly, for 56 consecutive days, treatments consisted of different forms of application: GC (control / without application), G1 (one application of 4 mL of VE), G2 (two applications of 2 mL of VE) and G3 (four applications of 1 mL of VE). Blood was collected each 14 days for analysis of biochemical profiles (total cholesterol, creatinine, globulin and aspartate aminotransferase - AST). In G2, cholesterol levels were lower (P < 0.01), while albumin levels were higher (P < 0.05). It was concluded that the parenteral administration of 400 IU of vitamin E in 4 mL dose subdivided in two 2 mL applications influenced in some parameters, such as cholesterol, creatinine, globulin and AST.
