Resumo

The small intestine is responsible for most of the digestion and absorption of food nutrients that will be converted into body weight gain. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of supplementation with Solanum malacoxylon in different levels at diet of broilers of the Cobb® lineage on the length and weight of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum). The experiment was conducted in the Poultry Sector of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology - IFMT (Campus São Vicente), municipality of Santo Antônio de Leverger-MT. A total of 1440 split chicks were randomly assigned to a randomized block design (DBC) in a 2x6 factorial scheme (two sexes and six inclusion levels of S. malacoxylon: 0; 50; 100; 150; 200 and 250 g) with six replicates and 20 birds per experimental unit. The supplementation of different levels of S. malacoxylon as a source of vitamin D3 did not statistically influence the length and weight characteristics of the duodenal, jejunal and ileal portions, demonstrating that the levels of inclusion of vitamin D3 were not sufficient to stimulate the protein synthesis in the intestinal mucosa to the point of providing greater weight and length of intestinal portions analyzed.
