MORFOMETRIA DA CARCAÇA DE CORDEIROS ALIMENTADOS COM COPRODUTOS OLEAGINOSOS DA AMAZÔNIA ORIENTAL

The aim of this study was to evaluate the morphometric measurements of lambs in confinement with diets containing Amazonian oil co-products. Twenty-four lambs were used in a completely randomized design, with four treatments and six replicates. The roughage feed was maize silage (40%) plus concentrate (60%). The treatments were Control (MFS), TD (palm kernel cake), TC (cupuaçu pie) and TT (tucumã pie). The experimental period were 14 days for adaptation and 70 days data collection. At the end, the animals were slaughtered to obtain the following morphometric measurements from the cold carcasses: body length (BL), haunch length (HL), arm width (AW), rump width (RW), thorax width (TW) and thorax depth (TD). There is no difference of the use of co-products on the BL, HL, AW, TW, RW, and TD. The animals submitted to the control diets, cupuaçu pie and palm kernel cake showed the best results for BL with average 52.65, 51.10, 50.90 cm, respectively. Animals fed with tucumã cake measured 16.12 cm in HL and 12.42 cm for AW. The cupuaçu pie, palm kernel cake and tucumã instead of corn and soybean meal increased body length, so they are alternative foods that improve the quality of lamb carcass.
