HISTOLOGIA GASTROINTESTINAL DE CORDEIROS ALIMENTADOS COM GRÃO DE CANOLA

This work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the gastrointestinal histology of lams fed with increasing levels of canola in the diet, aiming to obtain an alternative source for the diet of lambs. The statistical design was completely randomized with three treatments and six replications, including slaughter weight as covariate. The pH of both rumen and abomasum remained stable. The ventral rumen papillae had a linear effect for width (0,723) and for height r 0,623 and 0,634 papilla area on the dorsal rumen part (0,827). Ventral rumen area showed a quadratic effect of 0,825. The villi and intestinal crypts found a quadratic effect of 0,602 and 0,438, respectively. The inclusion of 16% of canola grain in the diet reduces the yield of ruminal papillae, villi and intestinal crypts, however.
