Resumo

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of calving order on the somatic cell count (SCC) of milk from high production animals 30 days postpartum, as well as the milk production of the same. The research was conducted on a dairy farm. Samples of in natura milk were collected from 60 animals of the Dutch breed with different delivery orders (1 delivery, 2 deliveries, 3 deliveries and above 4 deliveries) at 30 days postpartum. A completely randomized design (DIC) with 4 treatments and 15 replicates was used. An analysis of variance was performed and the means were compared by Tukey test at 5.0% significance. The results of the present study demonstrated that CCS and daily milk production of animals with one or more calving numbers are not influenced by the number of lactations. The order of calving does not affect CCS and milk production. Animals with different calving orders produce milk with CCS within the maximum limits established by the legislation.
