Resumo

It is known that in industrial swine breeding, a search to improve productive efficiency is constant, but, on the other hand, whenever standards of animal welfare are being established in the production chain, and these can come to the zootechnical region widely established. In this sense, an experiment was carried out with the objective of performing the same artificial lighting program (12 hours of light and 12 hours of light) (12E: 12L) and 23 hours of light (23L: 1E). day-old piglets (49 to 77 days of age). Sixteen pigs (8 females and 8 males) were used in a completely randomized design (DIC) with 2 treatments and 4 replicates (2 animals in each bay). The variables evaluated were: weight gain (g), feed intake (g) and feed conversion. As a result, no statistical differences (P >0.05) were observed between the different light programs on the performance parameters, concluding the way light programs did not influence the performance of a day care phase.
