Resumo

The objective of this study was to evaluate the dry mass yield of Urochloa
brizantha cv. MG-5 as a function of N rates and growth ages. Thus, an experiment
was conducted under field conditions in an established pasture. The experimental
design was in randomized blocks with subdivided plots in time and four replications.
The plots were composed of N rates (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg ha-1 of N) and
the subplots, plant growth ages (25, 32, 39, 47, 60, 67, 74, 85 days after fertilization -
DAF). At each age of growth the shoots of the plants was collected to obtain the dry
mass (SDM). At 25 DAA the SDM was not influenced by the N rates, however,
influenced in the other growth ages, having a linear increase up to 47 DAF and
quadratic in the others. The accumulation of SDM over time was linear for the N rates
of 0 and 50 kg ha-1 of N and for the others, the maximum accumulation was 11.51;
11.40; 11.35 and 12.82 Mg ha-1 for the rates of 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg ha-1 of N,
respectively.
